Please elaborate. I will be bringing my iPod and it is nowhere near full of music -- also, it is 30 GB. This may be the answer to my prayers.
The LX2 is a Panasonic point and shoot with a decent amount of manual control, the ability to shoot RAW, and a Leica lens. The Leica twin is the D-Lux 3 (which I used to have, sniffle -- it's the same camera but looks way hotter). The LX2 takes FABULOUS photos with the exception that it suffers from tiny-pointandshoot-sensoritis such that everything is always in focus and therefore every photo looks rather flat.
I was thinking I would use it mostly for color landscape stuff (yawn) but comparing "landscape" (I don't do real landscapes, sometimes there is a landscape in the background of my doggie photos) photos by my LX2 and the Nikon D70s there is a noticeable difference due to tinysensoritis that is making me think I will regret not bringing the dSLR. Then again, the size of the dSLR may make me regret bringing the dSLR. Either way, I'm going to end up with a lot of digital images.
Truth of the matter is that almost everyone seems to come back from Morocco with the same freaking images (Ray_G is a noteable exception to this), which makes me think I want to bag the whole digital plan and just bring my Holga. I mean, if I need bright digital photos of sand dunes and piles of colored spices I can always use Google.
Thanks all!

Shaken, so blurred
Not true. At least not true of the model I have. As I stated earlier in the thread, the Wolverine model I have will quite happily download the contents of any media card (it seems to have slots for most varieties) straight onto its hard disk without any PC present. I use it that way all the time, when travelling, and have done it when shooting sport and rotating CF cards with the Wolverine attached to my belt and certainly not attached to a PC.kbg32 said:The "Wolverine" will only work when connected to a PC, which Melanie does not want to bring along. It is a portable hard drive with no slots for digital camera cards.

Awesome. I just ordered an iPod Camera Connector from Small Dog. I think I'll also get a small card reader to speed downloads.
Now if I can just decide between the LX2 and the D70s...
