Will, good start . . . . . nice photographs, if your heading north, get on Route 295 / Route 1, and head on over to Booth Bay Harbor. One of many beautiful spots!

Have a great vacation, good luck and hope you have pleasant weather while you are on your journey!

Will, beautiful photographs and from the look of it you have matching weather!

Love your comment, “I could get used to this…”, then again there is a reason why there is so many summer homes in Maine . . . . .

It certainly is not Texas and you may find a mid-summer trip to Maine coast a refreshing experience as well!

I do hope the weather pattern stays the same for your whole trip, loving the posts and pictures.

I just gave a look to your site, nice photos and nice text there. I'll go back later ot look with my wife because we are planning a journey in that area, not sure (yet) when.

Looks like you found as nice a spot as you could have! Twisty side roads included. How bad were the potholes? :p

I must admit I've never had a chance to visit either of the maritime museums (there's another one in Searsport) although we pass by a lot. With our dog in the back seat, so stopping for anything she can't join in is always a problem.

Thank you for all the comments, guys, it made compiling the pictures worthwhile.

Dan, the weather held up while we were in Maine and North Massachussets (Salem, Gloucester, Marblehead).
It went grey and rainy the last two days in Boston, but by then, we're mostly inside the museums anyway, so it's not affecting us too much.

We'd love to come back when the weather is warmer, there are still tons of things we'd like to visit (like the Plimoth Plantation) that weren't open for the season yet.

The twisty roads were actually quite smooth, no major potholes, and the scenery is not bad at all, it's just the fact that we didn't know what to expect that made us anxious. The trip back to Bath felt a lot shorter :)

Very nice photographs and love the journal.

I do hope you continue the blog, documenting the journey.

It is like a mini vacation!

Great stuff, Will!

I must say you were incredibly lucky with the weather. Normally, March is what we call "mud season." If it does thaw by then, which is not guaranteed.

I know only three things that alleviate winter cabin fever in Maine: highschool hoops, Maine shrimp, and Morse's sauerkraut www.morsessauerkraut.com

Will, you're leaving us hanging -- you never figured out who that couple is? Lovely pictures; glad you enjoyed the visit. Come again, and come farther up, to Deer Isle -- there are a couple of us who can show you around!

We never did, but we are not movie buffs either, the couple just seem so refined and the looked like they may fit in a Hollywood set or something... :)

Definitely, Maine is now one of the regions in the country that my wife and I would consider visiting again. Plus everything is so close together (this is a Texan speaking, so...) that we feel like getting to different places in one trip.
