Trip to the Southwest with Family ... and X-Pro 2!

My family and I recently returned from a trip to the Southwest. Since the nature of this outing was a family vacation as opposed to one of my solo photo excursions, I decided to travel light, taking only my Fuji X-Pro 2 kit. Having been quite happy with my X-Pro 1 for the past few years, my recently acquired (March 2016) X-Pro 2 did not let me down. Here is a smattering of samples from our trip.

A little night work when the crowds died down and the kids were asleep!

While we spend the majority of our time based out of Moab, UT, we did take a side trip to Mesa Verde National Park.

We then worked our way back home, hitting a few favorite spots from previous outings. We averaged about 10 miles per day hiking, and my boys thoroughly enjoyed their time and are already making plans for our next excursion!

We had a wonderful time and it was a memorable, early Father's Day gift for me.

wonderful shots, it's 110 degrees in Tucson today, so you got out before it was too late!

I gave many slides from past trips to these places. I used Fujichrome 50 and 100 until Velvia came out. Used a heavy Gitzo tripod.

Matt, thanks for posting these. They're all really excellent images. I especially like the night images (something I haven't yet learned to do), and the images fo Mesa Verde. Can you tell us what lenses you used on the trip? Thanks.

I have posted the lens information to the corresponding photos. Even though most of the lenses in my kit were zooms, I found that I photographed the majority of images using only 3 or 4 focal lengths out of the entire range available.

Thanks for posting the lens info. It confirmed my suspicions on which were shot with the 10-24mm. The Rokinon shots were an unknown. The wide field and aperture make that a nice lens for the Milky Way!
