I dont mind second hand in fact over the years most of my gear has come from that route, (only my X Pro 1 was bought new), anyway I am in the market for a good tripod, a pod that will be home for my Hasselblad 500C, what would people recommend, I have around £150 to spend

If you don't need carbon fiber, the Manfrotto 055 aluminum tripods are a good choice. Stable enough to hold the 500c but not too heavy to carry around. Look around for the Hasselblad quick connectors. Makes life a lot easier when using a tripod.

If you are young, a heavy tripod like the 055 will not scare you, however, consider these additional facts:
- do you use the 90 deg finders, or only WLF and 45 deg one?
- do you use lenses longer than 150mm?
If the answer to these questions is no, then you might look for a lower and lighter tripod, as the C Hassy with mirror lifted up creates minimal vibrations and with lenses between 50-150mm is very well balanced.
I would always recommend a carbon fibre tripod - if you want to save some cash, look for one of the Gitzo basalt ones, these are almost as good as carbon and much cheaper.
