Tmax 1:4 works very well me with Tri-X/AP400. I use the Paterson short tank, but there is plenty of inversion room if that is your thing. I use 300ml total of Tmax 1:4, and spin agitate, at 20C/68F.
I use the same method with D-76 1:1, and I one-shot the Tmax 1:4 and D-76 1:1.
When I resupplied the other day, there was no Tmax in stock, so I bought another bag of D-76. The Tmax works out to be twice as expensive as D-76 for me, but it is soooo easy to make up small batches. Results look about the same to me ...

I've taken to putting my diluted, ready-to-go developer in the freezer with thermometer for a few minutes just before souping to bring the temp down quickly.
