Hi guys, what´s up?
I´ve been spending the last week in Argentina on vacation. Came here with my M6 and a lot of rolls. While traveling and enjoying myself, I couldn´t help thinking about cameras.
Well, I couldn´t help myself and aquired a GAS attack in Buenos Aires and got a lovely Rolleiflex, which I intended to use for BW landcapes, in north Argentina and Bolivia.
BTW, film is still alive here and so are lovely old camera shops with good cameras and good prices.
The German lady I got involved with is a Xenotar 75 3.5 from the late 50´s. Very good condition and very good price.
I must admit that the entire thing is spontanous and quick (and you might say irresponsible). I never used a Rollei before and didn´t even do medium format at all.
I did a test roll which came OK except some problems that I´ll elaborate on in the sequel.
The more important thing is that I tried to load film today and didn´t succed. I did it as the manual says and as I did in the shop. Put the paper between the two reels, moved it to the start indication and closed the camera.
Later what happened is that I winded the lever freely, the frame number didn´t advance. It did´t even get to ¨1¨ and I kept winding it until the film ended 😱
I tried to do it again and ruined another roll :bang:
Please see the attached pictures, what am I doing wrong? appologize for the low digi quality
I read the instructions again and can´t really understand what I did wrong. I think there´s a film detector that for some reason doesn´t work. The instuction says it is somewhere
I´m hoping that it´s a dumb user problem and that the camera is OK. For the price I paid I would´t mind fixing it on my expense, but I´d be really dissappointed for not using it in the following two weeks
OK, I´m in Cafayate now, very cool place. Going to Bolivia tomorrow and don´t have much internet connection (and of course no one around that can help me) so any help would be highly appreciated
Regarding the test roll - I burnt the last two frames, I think I didn´t close the roll properly. Can it be anything else?
The first 3 exposures were blank, but there should be a reason to that. Can´t remember, all was done with little time....😱
OK
help of any kind would be appreciated
thanks friends!
