Hi,
Has anyone had contact to Uwe Kersten - the Contax repairman in Germany?
I've mailed several times, tried to phone him...
I have sent him a Contaflex tlr for repair ... which I would like to have back some day.

Hi,
did you solve your problems to contact Mr. Kersten in order to get your camera back?
I also have sent him photographic parts. And what should i say: i tried to phone Mr. Kersten for several weeks. He also doesn't reply to my emails i have sent him several weeks ago.
In order to get a hint about the existence of Mr. Uwe Kersten, i phoned another Mr. Kersten (with other prename) in the same town, where Mr. Uwe Kersten should live (it probably could be a relative, i thought). This guy told me, that he already got several calls of customers that wanted to contact Mr. Uwe Kersten...
I will now check how to enforce by law to get my things back and will never deal with Mr. Uwe Kersten again (its a very bad experience and i can not give a reference or review). So, beware!
Objektivnarr.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I bookmarked the URL a while ago because this repairman was recommended here (or elsewhere). Recently i considered sending him a camera. But given your experience I might reconsider this.

DC1030: Did you try to meet him in person? His workshop is located just a stone thrown away from your home.

Hi, i am a long time lurker from Germany and have just registered in this forum.

I spoke to Uwe Kersten Thursday last week during my lunch time regarding the CLA of a Contax II. I contacted him using the phone number on his website.

Apparently, he has his hands full at the moment with several tlr-Contaflexes, Contarexes and complete collections. I guess your Contaflex is amongst them.

He was very nice to talk to, very knowledgeable, and we talked about half an hour, even though i just intended to inform him i was sending him a camera. He explained to me the working of the rangefinder mechanism and my film spacing questions.

Let me add that Mr. Kersten is highly regarded in Germany. I have not yet seen an example of his work, but as far as i can make out, he lives and breathes German cameras and I very much assume your Contaflex is in good hands.

Good luck with that thing. Always makes me proud to see the things my country once produced. Somestimes makes me shake my head, too.

I too have problems contacting Uwe Kersten, I have sent a camera for repair to him some months ago and got a mail from him some weeks before X-Mas that it was ready and how much I should pay for the repair.
I transferred the money to him and have not heard from him since.
He has repaired a camera for me before and then there were no problems so I now wonder if something has happened to him!
Does anybody know how it is with Mr. Kersten?
I am new in this forum and would be very pleased and thankful if someone could give me an answer.

Hello,

I've left a note also in another room of this Forum, in order to know whether Mr. Kersten would still be in the business of camera repair.

My question, because I see that his websites have now disappeared.

I needed to contact him, but it seems that also his email is not active anymore...

Best wishes,

Enzo (E.L.)

Might be a technical issue. The provider his domains are registered with has been bought up by another, which is currently moving the servers to its own site and has announced a downtime for this (and last) week. For now it is hard to tell whether the lack of absence notices means that he was caught by the move while on vacation or that his site was already abandoned prior to that - we'll see when the site does not come back by the end of this month...

If you need to get to him sooner than that, try by telephone or snail mail (contact info from his site):

Hello,

I refresh this discussion, because in the course of time, had no chance to re-contact Mr. Kersten, nor I can see any trace of his name being connected to a business of camera repair.

Could anybody have fresh news about him and his activity?

A collector I know, bought a Contarex-SE, along with the invoice from Uwe Kersten for the complete overhaul of that same camera, and I can say it was excellently serviced.

Best wishes,

Enzo (E.L.)
