so another day another lens from china... this time it is also with clicked aperture, and very pretty design and build quality and its under 60eur! Infinity is good, everything smooth-sharp across the frame, and no crazy barrel distortion like in most cheap and fast ones. i have no idea how they achieved this, and all that in pretty small package
but lets start with lens first

and some more... also i must say i tried to force it to make some chromatic aberrations with lights in streets but still didnt find anything... very well corrected and im surprised they didnt promote that-i saw more CA from some of apo lenses.. so weird...

ah really dont worry about it-i bought i think 5 different chinese lenses-from no name to these 7 and tt artisan and never had any focusing issues... especially since its used on mirrorless-you have to live focus anyway-so even if you have bad luck and numbers on lens dont match up with reality you wont notice that because you will focus through lens and what yiy focus is what you get.band anyway its 50 bucks - you can try and if not working you can give back and replace it-aliexpess sellers are maybe bad in english but i never saw anybody that ignore your problem - its in their interest to have satisfied customers because you give reviews so one negative thing affect them very much... (if you ask me this lens is most complete package of all i tried. no abarations and everything smooth plus click stops and its 60eur... im sure nobody can beat that)

one stop faster than 35/2 , bit smaller, also real manual focus and not that weird by wire... also not strange muddy digitally corrected corners that 35/2 makes because it has to correct crazy barrel distortion that i never saw so strong in lens before...

IMO there is no Fuji equivalent i.e. a native manual focus lens, despite the nice affinity Fuji bodies display toward analog aficionados. It's currently a niche mainly (if not exclusively) occupied by small Chinese makers.

Because there are no Voigtlander offerings to choose from, I too had to shell out the substantial ~$60 for one of these so that my X-E3, bought specifically this time to shoot manual lenses hyperfocally, can have something both decent and small on it. It's very well put together, nicely damped and has a hard infinity stop, which again you'd be having hard time finding among Fuji lenses. Being a classic 7-element Ultron design, optically it's not bad at all.

Take a look around and you'll realize that Meike, Zonlai and TTartisan all have built rather comprehensive wide-standard-telephoto lineups specifically designed for APS-C cameras, which makes Cosina's dead firm commitment to M43 ever more confusing. I'm pretty sure the upcoming TTartisan 17/1.4, following the recent 35/14 and 50/1.2, will be a blast.

I have one Chinese made lens, a 25mm f1.8 7Artisans. What drives me crazy (a short trip) is that the focusing scale on the lens is completely wrong. Not slightly off but so far off that focusing at 2 feet the scale shows 5 ft.
It appears that the focusing scale from a different lens was accidentally printed on this lens. Apparently all of this model have the same wild focusing scale.
For an old dog like myself, who is used to surreptitiously prefocusing by scale when I don’t want to draw attention to myself. This is enough to almost ruin the experience with this lens.

Edit; Really should add, the foregoing complaint is an operational issue. The image quality is ok, especially since mine was a eBay BIN for $50, LNIB. The IQ is slightly better than my adapted Pen F 25mm f4 Zuiko, which was made in 1964. I did shim the Pen F to 4:3 adapter. All these mount adapters from China seem to be too short, usually between .004 to .006 inch. I guess the manufacturers want to be sure you can reach infinity focus.

Yes - but not everyone owns every wide angle lens that's available in the M-mount.

In my case - I purchased a 7Artisans 35mm f/1.2 Mark II for my Sony a6400, even though I have the Sony 35mm f/1.8 prime, which is a very acceptable performer.

The reason for the purchase: the Sony OEM prime lacks a distance scale.

The 7Artisans lens not only offers a distance scale on the focus ring - but also a depth of field scale on the lens barrel. Bottom line: I can set the a6400 to its aperture priority mode and do some zone focusing street photography.

The good news: I like the direct connection of the manual focus ring these lenses offer versus the focus by wire feel of the OEM lens.

Bad news: To me at least, these manufactured in China after market manual focus lenses remind me of the Soviet lens rabbit hole. My gut feeling is there are going to be some dodgy ones in the mix.

That said - I just purchased a Kamlan 21mm f/1.8 -

I'm not aware of any M-mount lens and adapter combo that will get me a 35/1.4 that focus down to 0.28 meter and weigh 177 grams. Not for $60. Not for $6000.

I won't get tired to repeat my points again: I bought the TTartisan because it's a native manual focus lens with real helicoid and hard infinity stop. It's well made. Its optics is sound. It focuses much closer and is much less clumsier than any adapted solutions. And it cost almost nothing.

I see nothing dross in a trunk of metal and glass that offers something that no other options do. Certainly it's as real as an option gets. The coming 17/1.4 would be even more, unique, which is the word I'd prefer.

If Voigtlander makes a similar lens I'd hop on in a second. Sadly they do not.
