TTArtisan 50mm / f0.95

I just bought their 75mm 1.25, it’s very impressive for what I paid for it.

i've got that one as well, even compared it to the noctilux 75mm quickly when in the leica store, i liked the colors of the 7artisans better 🙂 it is a great lens!

Also, that is a 7artisans, not a TTartisans. The OEM is in both cases DJ Optical btw.

How much did you pay for the 7artisans lens?
It is $449 at amazon.

I got a NIB TTArtisans (apparently TT did a limited run of 200) one from eBay for just north of $500. The seller mentioned something about the TT lenses having tighter QA/QC than 7artisans. I searched all over to verify and could not find any solid information to back that up. If anyone has any inside info/backstory on these two brands and their relationship, I’d love to hear about it.

Apparently one of the 7 artisans had a fallout and started TTArtisans. On some chinese forum there was more to be read about it.

I have both, they have a very different look.
The Nokton is very sharp wide open with harsh/busy bokeh.
The 7A is softer with a very smooth classical portrait (Sonnar style) bokeh.

Interesting, i don't have the 7A, but have the nokton, i never noticed the harsh/busy bokeh tbh. But then again, i prefer my canon 50/1.5 for sonnar bokeh 🙂

I am content with my Summilux 75/1.4. I do not really need now to buy a 75mm/1.25.

Online check for the word "content": If you feel content, you're satisfied and happy.

gotta pay for bokeh balls i guess 🙂

it is however the cheapest 095 lens for full frame i think?

Thing is every 7A lens I have, while the focus is spot on via the RF patch (which is what matters), focuses past infinity at the hard stop. 50mm 1.1 (x2!), 35mm f2, 28mm 1.4.
The fix is to loosen the focus ring and adjust it so that the hard stop is infinity. This is separate from the rf adjustment that is at the lens mount. Stuff like this make these lens acceptable at the below $500 mark. But for $800? Nope.

I only have experience with the 7artisans 28/1.4 which I bought last year. It is an excellent lens for the price they are asking. Plenty sharp wide open with very pleasing bokeh. You only have to play with the lens for 10 minutes when you first get it in order to have the perfect focus. But once that's done, it hasn't shifted for me at all in all this time. It does not make me want to get a Leica 28mm like other lenses usually tend to make me feel after a while. I'm incredibly happy with my cheap 28/1.4 with great optical performance.

I think we are too used to paying marked up Leica prices. Remember a used mint condition Noctilux could be had for $2000? That wasn’t much more than 10 years ago. I recall paying $900 for my first new 50mm Summicron made in Solms. Given cost of living in China is still way behind and no marketing costs and huge dealer network a 6Artisan lens for $500 is not cheap but realistic.
