TTArtisan lenses and photos -please post yours.

I just bought the TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25 and am interested in trying out the 21mm. I am after a particular look. I already have the Leica 21mm Summilux and already sold the Voigtlander 21mm 1.4 because it was too contrasty and hard edged (typical current VC) something I don’t like with the Monochrom but great in color. The 21mm is my most used focal length and having another wouldn‘t hurt.

Here’s a shot with the VC 15mm v3 with my M10M. I did no manipulation and used a uv filter. I really dislike that contrasty edgy IMG_0410.jpeg“digital“ look. This was my first day out with it. I imagine it would be much worse with a yellow filter. There’s no tonal gradient. I see many many digital b/w photos with this look and I don’t like it. I understand it can’t be avoided in harsh lighting but this scene was ideally lit.

This was shot with a 21mm Summilux same camera. Yellow/green B+W 060 filter. See how natural it is? Look at the grey and subtly of the tones of his trousers. IMG_0594.jpeg

Hmmm, is this a camera generated jpeg? I'm not sure about the M10M but on other Leica digital cameras I've used the in-camera jpeg has a bit of a bumped up contrast. I wonder if you'd like it more starting with the raw file and/or backing off contrast a little.

It was DNG in Lr unedited just cropped. Down sized and converted to jpg in PS no sharpening. Modern lenses made firmly in the digital era are high contrast and high resolution. Nothing wrong with that. From shooting with a M10M I prefer a tonal scale from older lenses. The 21mm Summilux is I think 20 years old. That said, color performance is better with said modern era lenses.

Two b&w samples with the TTArtisan 1.5/21 in harsh daylight (2.45 PM in Saigon), with the SL2S:

Certainly not up to par with modern, tack-sharp lenses but I like the look. I'm curious about the 90mm TTArtisan. Cheers, OtL

TTArtisan 5.6/28. I am very curious to see the results of the TTArtisan lenses with the Epson R-D1x. Cheers, OtL
