I don't think I saw a photo I didn't love. Great stuff. Where do you live?

There are so many nice photography related tumblrs around and I love scrolling my dashboard on my couch, with a steamy decaf coffee cup on the table, before bed-time

Nice work, Stephan. Is the portfolio section part of your theme, or did you create that with custom pages?
Actually, I see you've left tumblr to display the portfolio. Does anyone know if you can blend traditional blog pages with thumbnail/portfolio pages?
It's been inspiring and instructive to see what everying is doing on Tumblr. Thanks for sharing them.

From what I can tell, the portfolio link on his page redirects to a cargocollective.com page. Cargo Collective is a very basic, but useful, portfolio hosting site. If you have never checked it out, definitely do so!
However, there is a way to create a portfolio type of section on Tumblr. You just need to add a page to your Tumblr, but it may require some HTML/CSS work to get it the way you want. If you want just a page full of photos to scroll through, all you add to the custom page is a list of image sources.

I love reading other (traditional) blogs, and I feel like some other ones that aren't on Tumblr have some appeal too. blakeandrews.blogspot.com is one of my favorite traditional blogs, and even though it's on an outdated system such as blogspot, it still looks nice and is easy to read through.

I actually do keep some RSS feeds trickling and B is one of the reasons I keep doing that. But the photoblog landscape has really thinned compared to, say, the time Alec Soth ran a proper blog (when was that, 10 years ago?). And so has the audience.
Anyway, here are some tumblrs I like:
David Simonton
Jen Ervin
Brian McSwain
Nathan Pearce

B is one of the main reasons for me as well. Although, I'd wish he switch his writing to something like Tumblr. But he has such an impressive archive and following it'd be hard to do. I was unaware that Alec Soth ran a photo blog back then. What was it called?
Great Tumblr links, love it all.

Thank you. I can do HTML and CSS, but was hoping for a more automated solution. I'll keep exploring.

Ah I see. Tumblr lacks in that department and I don't know why they haven't introduced some sort of tool for portfolios. There's a lot of great portfolio-themed layouts for Tumblr, though. But in the end it's still just a blog.

Yes that's exactly the case, I've got my portfolio hosted on cargocollective. It's been a while now since my last update and I don't even recognise myself in that kind of pictures anymore...
Anyway anther cool feature of tumblr is that you can use your own domain name, like blog.yourdomain.com, and the fact that you're not forced to host obnoxious navigation bars, ads, and the like.
What I don't like is that there is no (easy) way to change a post type when it's been published already. I have a side blog and sometimes I want to change a text post into a photo post. That was kinda possible some time ago with a hack, but now it's virtually impossible.

It was a blog about art in general rather than a photo blog. Conversations, ramblings, poems, snapshots. It was quite popular (and for a good reason, IMO). Apparently, it's still online in its entirety: https://alecsothblog.wordpress.com

Thanks! I'll be spending most of the day on there...
