tumblr blogging anyone ?

I just wanted to add a thought about sharing images on social media. This is not really specific to the tumblr platform, but anyway. The danger with engaging in image sharing on soil networks is that it is easy to get hung up on likes. It seems we humans are a greedy lot. We want more and more. And the more we get the better we feel about ourselves. Well, getting likes is about building an audience and feeding that audience with what they prefer. So for instance if you have a period of photographing nature and mountains in color, you will after a while succeed in collecting a fair amount of followers. But if you deviate from that formula and evolve your style (maybe you shoot more black and white for a while) people will abandon you and your "like count" will decrease substantially. So basically social networks promote photographers who never develop or change their vision. Don't get hung u on getting likes, because a high like count is not necessarily correlated with good work.
Maybe obvious, but I just wanted to say it anyway :)

wow, i think i just filled my next few weekend mornings with tumblr feeds to check out! some very talented members here!

i'm on tumblr as well. i like how simple and clean it is, it's search functions and i like how you can see higher resolutions of the images i like how you can message people although it is very clumsy in its execution, several of whom have gone on to become virtual friends.
