As the originator of this thread, I was using Firefox on a PC when I encountered all of the problems that I wrote about. I'm not inclined to return using IE to see if things work any differently.
As for Mr. Weeks involvement, this certainly is of no interest to me as far as uber.com is concerned.
As others stated above, he may be a swell fella and maybe even a fine photographer and I might even like him if our paths were to cross, but I, too, find his online personna very off-putting and childish what with all the "fornicating" words he uses in his writing. But maybe this is what it takes to be "uber-cool".
Now, of course, my chances of "winning" the M7 are now pretty much squashed...

While very personable in person, Chris also has a writing style which many like, and many hate.
still, I don't understand why people are complaining about not liking Chris in connection to a free giveaway for a chance to win a new M7 and Leica 50 lens. What I mean is, what is there to complain about FREE ?? You don't even have to buy a ticket (like the LHSA raffles).

Stephen, there's a bit of history between Chris and some folks here on RFF. Chris' online essay about RF photography was discussed here on RFF. Some folks expressed their views on his essay. (for example about his adolescent shock-writing style.) In response, on his blog site, Chris individually slagged every person who made any kind of negative comment, disparaging their photographic abilities, etc. It was very juvenile. It seemed that if you weren't kissing his ***, you were a crumby photographer.
Like others have stated, he may be a great guy in person, but his on-line persona paints another picture.

I wanted to join because I need some friends. Oh that and the M7. But I decided to read the disclaimer/legal thingie, and it expressly prohibits linking to the Uber website. Now that's dumb. I guess I'll have to suffer with my own friends for the time being.

I just visited it. It looks quite OK to me. Seems to work OK too with firefox (for me at least).
But I'm not eligible for the M7 anyway as it's only open to US residents.

All I use is blogger for my own blog, dilbert.com, RFF, tweakers.net and a few other websites that I visit once or twice a day to stay "informed". I won't be joining as I have no need for this uber.com. The M7 won't be awarded to me anyway, so no need to join just for the hell of it either.
