Hello all,

could someone possibly help me identify this object. This is an item I found in the recent lot I purchased.
Many thanks in advance

It's Leitz's combined lens hood and aperture-changing device for its 50mm Elmar f3.5, whose aperture is altered by a deeply inset slider inaccessable with a conventional lens hood fitted.

The internal ring on the device engages the slider, so enabling the aperture to be changed without removing the hood.

Regards,
D.

It's a sort of an extension thing for Leitz enlargers. Don't know the code word.

Recently people started using it as a lens hood for Elmar-type lenses. If fixed to the lens with the mounting screw, you can put the aperture tab of the Elmar into the notch and set the aperture with the lever on the outside of this extension thing.

Somebody will certainly chime in with the Leitz code word soon.

Because of this alternate use of the thing, it fetches between 30 and 60 bucks as of recent years.

Thanks guys, I just tried on the ELMAR and it works.
It's heavy though and in compare to the lens it feels like a lil' boat anchor🙂

Cheers

This is probably a post-war version, as it is marked in the "standardized" f-stop scale; earlier models were marked with "Continental Scale" - f 4,5 - 6,3 - 9 - 12,9 - 18.
