Put your camera into MF, set the focal distance further to the right
Repeatedly half press the shutter
Watch the focal distance get closer and closer

This is a pretty serious bug for anyone who uses MF especially for consecutive shots. Maybe it did this with 1.30 but not really sure at this point. What a bummer, Fuji gives and they take back.
edit: problem restated and defined in post 8

edit: just to restate the problem, the lens focus creeps under particular parameters in Manual Focus
first of all this does not happen if you press the AFL button in MF
this also does not happen in F2, at F2 half pressing does not emit any lens noises (i.e. stopping down)
this does not happen if you move the focus ring from close to far
this does happen if you move the focus ring from far to close (i.e. infinity to 5m)
in other words, go to Manual Focus Mode, set the aperture to F2.8 or higher, then roll the ring to infinity, then roll it back a bit to perhaps 5m or so. continually half press and the focus will creep closer and closer.
hope someone else is able to reproduce this as fuji likes to say "phenomenon". any ways it's not AS serious, but basically makes the lens ring truly functional in one direction.

Mine DOES do it. Just put my lens on f16, manual focus at infinity. Half-press the shutter button until it give a shutter speed readout, raise finger off the button and the distance marker moves to the left. I repeated this again and again and went from infinity spent to two metres. Got fed up after that.
However after switching on to try again it didn't do it. My assumption is this is intermittent and fuji should put it right.

Update.
I retried at a closer distance and it does creep when using the focus ring but not the AFL button. Bug confirmed.

After immediately turning it back on, it will not do it, but once you move the focus a bit closer and try half pressing the activity will return.

Having checked again following your description I am seeing the problem. However, as that is not how I use it, I don't think it will be a problem for me.

As far as I can tell, this issue happens in manual focus mode with shutter half-presses.
At first I thought my camera did not do this. But that's because I never do a shutter half press in manual focus mode.

Gee, what a non issue. So, it will only happen if you move focus from infinity down - solution: set it from MFD up and call it character... Problem solved.

Bug? Mine does it. Seems more a Gnat than a Black Widow though. Of course, I say that as I do not stand on my head, wiggle my toes, and chew bubble gum when using a camera. I honestly do not see how this would cause *me* any problems.

For me it is basicaly a non-problem.... After all the years of having such long travel distance on the focusing ring... When I go to mf mode, I normally use the af/al button approach anyway, not the focusing ring. So my normal habit makes it a non-issue.
Bit if I were a primary user of the focusing ring and peaking approach... That would be a very different matter. I probably in mf mode maybe 5-10% of the time..only.
To the op, thanks for the heads up.

not a problem for me either because i barely touch the MF ring and instead use the MF+AFL process. but considering the improved responsiveness of the ring was one of the big features of this update, being able to use it only in one direction is unusual.
i don't agree it's a non issue, knowing is half the battle

True.. On the other hand for the way I use the camera, the af performance improvements were the important update.
Now please Fuji fix your stupid reset config problem. For crying out loud, imbedded sw has solved this issue a long long time ago as well as your other competitors.!!!
