focus free
Hi everybody! I'm stoked to find a for-real Yashica rangefinder forum! And like most introductions, mine has a tale of woe and confusion.
I've been fiddling with the focusing ring on the lens barrel. I figured it'd be fun to see what is behind it. That went nowhere and I discovered that I'd put it out of adjustment: the rangefinder appeared to focus past infinity. I re-adjusted it until it seemed to focus correctly on an object .8 meters away and to converge on infinity but not past.
My question is: what have I done??? does this kind of mucking around also throw the rangefinder off? Do I need to do the Oleson/Feuerbacher infinity thing to get it back to normal?
A second question has to do with why I was reconnoitering in the first place: the lens barrel is a tiny bit loose. Having looked over Matt Denton's site and a couple others, I'm confident I can get in there and ruin more stuff 😉 but can I access the means to get rid of the wobble? Thanks in advance! Now I'm back to the archives.
