Hi.

About a week ago I came across one of the Brass Luftwaffe Leica copies on ebay. I had never seen anything like it before, so I bought it. (I knew it wasn't really a Leica, but I wanted it anyway.) After I paid for it, I started doing some research into it, which led me to the FED's and Zorki's. Wow! Had to have one, so I bought a Zorki 4 for 24.00...then a 2S (C)...then another 4...then another 2S...then last night 2 more 4's, colored ones this time.

These things are addictive, aren't they?

I got the copy in 6 days from the Ukraine, believe it or not! It's really beautiful, actually. Looks like an excellent job to me. Now I can't wait to get one of the Zorki's so I can tear it down and see how it ticks. There is so much info around on the web I couldn't believe it. More than on the electro 35, which is one of the most popular RF's around. Amazing!

Anyway, I am enjoying going through the posts here in the FSU forum. Very informative.

Russ

I think I'll paint one of the 4's...😀

Unless I've counted wrong, that's 7 FSUs in 7 days!?! Congratulations Russ! I'm recommending you as December's Hero in the Russian RF Forum. Indeed some nice looking gear there.

Now, take it easy for a few minutes, catch your breath, have a cup 'o joe -- then --- get back in there and snag that Zorki.3 & 3M!! 😱

In reality, yes. But the rest of us FSUAddicts like to call it, "Another Comrade welcomed to the fold." Enjoy!

Well, that didn't last long...

Just bought a FED 2! 😱

Somebody help me!!!!

After I find a nice Zorki 3M... 🙄

Russ

Now ... THAT'S a camera! 😛 🙂

ps ... and of course you will have to get a Kiev II. ;-)

I bought 9 FSU cameras from the same seller in 1 day and even more from other sellers on that same day. It was just recently 🙂 Altogether I purchased more than 30 FSU cameras over 1 month. I could keep going, but I run out of money 🙂

I never bought a camera on *bay because I saw it was good looking. It was just mere the interest. I started with a completely disassambled (except for the lense) FED-1. With no experience and some help from books/internet, I managed to glue in new curtains from a Canon. I got it working again and the pictures are now in my RF gallery. Good experience and interrest made me buy the other camera's I have now.
Just run a film through one of them, and use the right light meter 😉

Waw! I guess I have to settle for a runner-up.😀 Still no clue for the locomotive?😕

Well, it's been about 24 hours and I haven't bought anything else. I think I can wait now until I get some in the mail. I really want to get a nice Jupiter 9, but I think I can wait on that, too.

I have a nice Gossen Super Pilot that I use with my Yashica-Mat 124, my Retinas, my Nikons, my Pentaxes, etc., so I am OK there. I just shot a short test roll with my "Luftwaffe Leica" and the negs are perfectly exposed and look very sharp. The rangefinder is definitely way out of adjustment, but I just set it on the hyperfocal distance and things seem to have come out nice, although I haven't printed any of them yet. When I do, I'll post a couple.

Thanks for all the friendly comments!

Russ 😎

PS Attached is a shot of part of my collection

Start with a J-8, it's easier to find a nice one...

I am dieing for J9, I-61L/Z (SLR) and some longer lens.

Then there are those East German Lense....

You guys are great! I no longer feel guilty about my 10 film cameras and 4 digis 😀

I really like my Jupiter 8 and 12 lenses, though I use them on a Leica IIIc. I know I ought to get a Fed but I doubt I have enough will power to stop at 1!
