Excellent! Like the idea so count me in. Anyone around in Cambridge...? Anxiously waiting for the first snow, does wonders to the place.

Hi Vincent,
Couple pints? Sounds like a great idea
!
Do you want to send me a PM with a time and place (Tuesday bad for me) or make it a general invite to any others in Cambridge by posting it here?

I notice that you are in Dundee.
I spent 4 very pleasant years there while I was at University. Dundee gets a bad press but I thought it was a great place to live.

Just need one more camera
Count me in as well.
Maybe we could have a sub-chapter (page? paragraph?) for the fair metropolis

Dundee is its own worst publicist, I've lived here nearly all my life, although I was born elsewhere, (Meikleour, Perthshire). I can remember the city when it was a very dirty smelly troubled place, famous for its three "J's" Jute, Jam (Keillers Dundee Marmalade) and Journalism (D C Thomson of Sunday Post, Beano and Dandy fame)
The Journalism still remains, but the other two are long gone, along with their distinctive smells!!! Now the industries are high tech and clean, as is the city, with access to some very beautiful countryside on its doorstep. And if Golf is your thing, there are dozens of the worlds best Golf couses within a half hour drive. St Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles for a start.

Ah Meikleour - famous for the massive beech hedge ! An impressive sight at the right time of Year.
From what I have seen when I've been back to Dundee in the last few years it has moved on from the 3 'J's and is now thoroughly modernising itself. The best thing was the demolition of that 70's monstrosity of a shopping centre 'The Overgate'. It's completely amazing what they have put in it's place. Basically another shopping centre but it has a big wall of glass which reflects St Mary's church and looks really impressive. Some good photo opportunities around there.
There's some pretty hi-tech industry around Dundee now. I work in the biotech sector and I would be happy to relocate to Dundee if my other half could (would) also move her job.

God yes the old Overgate was a terrible 60's construction, and the new is a LOT better, but I'm old enough to remember the original, it could have been cleaned up and had a lot of historic buildings. this was during Dundee's corrupt coucil stage, when the council did more damage to the fabric of the city, than WW2 bombing did!!!Mr C said:Ah Meikleour - famous for the massive beech hedge ! Yes. Autumn, early in the morning, a wall of red and gold!!

Carl, pardon me if I am mistaken, but are you the same guy who sold me your Contax ST a few years back??
It's a great camera, still going strong. Thought you might like to know.
Hope you're enjoying your G2. I just bought one cheap off eBay from the USA (with a 45mm lens). I have more cameras than I know what to do with!

hi j.r. ong,
Yup, that's me. Glad you still like the ST -- a great camera, just not what I needed for the kind of photography I wanted to do, which was more spontaneous street photography, crowds, etc. The smaller, less obtrusive G2 is ideal for that. Still, judging from your Website, all your cameras haven't gotten in the way of some great shots!
