UK Zorki 1 Repair

How bad is the light leak? Curtains I presume? If it's not too bad you can get away with some black rubber paint - someone will tell you what sort. CLA isn't too hard to do if you're mechanically minded. I've no idea where in the UK it can be repaired, especially at a cost that makes it worthwhile.

Does anyone know what paint to use that is available in UK

Thanks
If you mean to touch up the body, there's the Humbrol modelling paint in the UK. The gloss black is pretty near to the finish on Russian cameras. The only caveat is that the paint takes quite a while to harden enough to polish up - at least a week, in my experience, as an absolute minimum. I touch up roughly then polish it back to blend in with the original. Tedious but the end result is reasonable.

I've seen curtains with marks of paint to repair the light leaks. The rest of the rubber on the curtains will not last forever, the liquids in the paint solve some rubber as well when painting.
The rubber on the curtains dries out when the camera hasn't been used for a long while. Repainting some leaks would only solve the problem temporarily when the other vulcanite is in weak condition.
Maybe some new fresh curtains is a better option, just try the yellow pages. With some luck there might be a repair shop around which can replace them.

Greetings, 🙂

oleg @ OK photocameras charges $44 + return post $17 from Russia . He can also fit new curtains.
Cheaper, and probably better , than anyone in the Uk.
I am waiting my Z 1 back from him .
