Your photos are superb, but I just love this one so much!

I'm shooting some Arista 400 Premium that I found in my fridge, and am really surprised/disappointed as to how unsharp it is. I've now shot it through three different camera/lens combos and when I pixel peep (I know...) detail is seriously lacking, where things are sharp in pretty much any other film I use.

Wondering if you have had any experience with it? It's the old now discontinued Premium, not their current Arista EDU Ultra.
Either way, I'm buying what you're using!

Thanks, Huss, appreciate the kind words! I have used Arista 400 Premium before, and I never had any particular complaints about it, other than its discontinuation. It was actually the first film I used when I switched to analog and started developing my own film. A while ago, I did go back and re-digitize some frames from my first few rolls, mostly to see if my digitizing workflow had improved over time. I still have a few rolls stashed in the fridge, but I last used it this past summer in an Olympus Pen S. Even on a half-frame camera, it was sharp enough for me. I have a small album of Arista Premium 400 samples on my Flickr, and I think there's enough resolution to pixel peep.

But back on topic, the Ultrafine Xtreme 400 is great stuff, especially considering you can get a 100-foot bulk roll for <$50. I just bought another roll when Photo Warehouse had a 10% off promo code recently. :D

Thanks.. got sucked into your Flickr feed! Yeah I found your Arista shots, they are sharper than mine from what I can see but I am looking at 8000x5000 scans on mine.
I think my developer I am using may not be playing nice with Arista. I'm using Cinestill DF96 Monobath, which perhaps decreases sharpness? I'm guessing as I am having no problems with Ilford film (Pan F even taking speed/grain into account).

Anyway, back on topic. Keep posting!

Your pics are so good because the images/portraits of your family and friends are so natural. In most of them they act like you are not there - which is why they work so well.

Thanks, Huss, I really appreciate it! I chalk it up to desensitization. Since I'm constantly pointing cameras at my family and friends, they mostly just ignore me now. :D
