Hey all, sorry if this question has been asked before, but i'm looking for recommends on an M-mount/ltm 35mm lens that doesn't have a tab lol. I have the 35 cron asph f2 as well as the cv color skopar 2.5. and i feel like it's always kind of awkward for me ergonomically to use the tab. So far the options i've seen are:

Zeiss ZM biogon 35mm f2
Zeiss ZM c-biogon 35mm f2.8
Canon 35mm f2 ltm
w-nikkor 3.5cm 1.8 ltm

I know the Zeiss ones have a little nub and the nikkor does indeed have a tab, but i'm still able to grip the barrel to focus with. Anyways, any info would be much appreciated, thank you!

The Biogons are fantastic lenses.
The “nub” is barely noticable if you don’t want it and not noticable enough if you do.
I had both the f2 and f2.8 at different times.
The f2.8 would be my choice today... compactness and I like the slight vignetting at wo.
Sharp 3d-esk rendering from both.

The Canon 35mm f/2 LTM's siblings (f/1.5, f/1.8, and f/2.8) and their Serenar predecessors (f/2.8, f/3.2, and f/3.5) all have an infinity lock, but probably grippable by the barrel.

Voigtlander 35mm f/1.7 (LTM and M-mount versions)
Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 (M-mount)
Kyoei W. Acall 35mm f/3.5 LTM
Jupiter-12 35mm f/2.8 LTM

If you would like to stick with the 35mm color skopar, the second ltm version doesn't have a tab. Same optics as the other versions.

I also had the 35mm color skopar with tab as my first M mount lens. I found it a little too small to use comfortably, but recently have picked up the LTM version which I love, has short focus throw, and nice to use with the scalloped focus ring.

Zeiss 35 lenses have focus tabs. Copy of Zeiss - J-12 isn't.

Every lens where I can't add focus tab was sold. Too slow to operate for action street shooter.
All I'm using with tab and short focus throw is left, middle, right. I don't have to guess where to rotate, every time tab tells me.

The 35/1.7 LTM Voigtlander is a fantastically good lens which I finally dumped because I don't like lenses without tabs. 🙂 Other than that, it's one of the best lenses I've owned.

I agree about the VC Ultron LTM 35mm f/1.7, fast, optically extremely good and nicely finished in black paint. However, mechanically it is not the best lens around.

Erik.

Thanks for the replies everybody!

So far i'm leaning to one of the zeiss biogons, the ltm pancake color skopar, or maaaaaybe that sweet looking silver konica hexanon Dante mentioned. I did check out that vc ultron, but had the 50 nokton 1.5 that uses the same barrel design and couldnt get on board with it as the focus ring digs into my fingers too much 😛
