Hi there,

Im having a sudden problem with the film nearing the middle of the reels and also occasionally all along the top edge of the film being underdeveloped.

On 120 and 35mm, all in a paterson 5 reel (35mm) 3 reel (120) tank with paterson reels, been using the same equipment for the last year with no troubles and this has suddenly reared its ugly head

diafine: 3min+3min/ 3 to 4 gentle inversions a minute

is this my reels not holding the film correctly so its getting to close and so dev not flowing freely? the sudden occurrence is whats confusing me mainly!

Any ideas?

all 3 films shot on 3 different cameras, sorry i should of stated earlier,

but i have just noticed a crack in the centre column of my patterson tank, could it be light entering the tank that way and fogging the centre of the reels...

That could be an explanation, but that is a lot of light. You will have to develop an unexposed roll of film to be sure.

rlouzan - That might have to be the next step just to tick another box.

Shac - This is what ive been thinking also, or the film running off the rails of the reel and coming to close together, Brainstorming just in case im missing an obvious, as i had a look at a new set of reels, and the price runs up quickly! Especially for a full set of hewes rather than patersons to stop this happening again (if it is the reels at fault).
