Not just for him, but I still have a couple of Nikonos II cameras. And I thought nothing of putting a roll of Ektachrome in one. Now, my underwater days are over, but I still go into the pool or just to the beach with the Nikonos II:

Someday we have to take a look at the psychology of the price of film and development verus our 'uptightness' of using it with a 'devil may care' attitude.

I love everything about the Nikonos camera system, save for the zone/estimate focusing. The water plays optical tricks to begin with, and on top of that, having to set the distance, makes me miss skittish sea creatures. Still have my Nikonos V and the 105 flash (which is awesome). The system does a good job balancing light.
Even though my Nikon 1 J1 can't hold a candle to Ektachrome, in its Nikon housing, having that autofocus, paired with the flash communication, really makes things easier underwater for less experienced divers like myself.
Best,
-Tim

Me too.
I also used Ektachrome with my Nikonos V until Ektachrome discountinued in 2012. Then I switched to Fujichrome since then and until today, I am still using film with my Nikonos V.
Please see my latest Fujichrome with Nikonos V in Nov 2017.

If Ektachrome is back, I will use it in the future with my Nikonos V.

John, the color in that photo is lovely. and that image is 45 years old!
Opportunity and money seldom cross paths in my life, so there have always been cameras and other things that I have missed. I had to pass on a perfect Nikonos with lenses for $100 recently. Argh...it would have been fun and, I too, await Ektachrome ... sadly, though, for dry land shooting.

Thanks Dave, the Nikonos II is guess everything. So, in the perfect world I would have underexposed a little, not changed the focus but it was a guess, and cleaned the drops off the lens filter/cover.
I have two Toshiba underwater flashes that fit the Nikonos II and maybe the III if any one is interested. Like I say I'm not going under any more.

Internal o ring service.
Internal o ring service.
many thanks for the response from the forum re Nikonos camera system and Kodak Ektachrome (soon to be re-released by Kodak Alaris.)
I have been fortunate to find internal o ring kit for my Nik V collection - a Nikon agent in Melbourne (Australia) is able to service the camera complete with vacuum test...so when Ektachrome is back on the market...I'll be back in the ocean.

Hi, Pat!
Welcome to RFF! It is great you have joined our community and we look forward to your posting about your underwater photography. Although I am not a diver, I am fascinated with
the images you have already had published and the fact that you made those beautiful images with a Nikonos is terrific!
