I noticed the negatives I am getting from my m3 has uneven frame gaps. Although there are no overlapping frames, this kinda bothers me. Is this normal? Is it time for a CLA? My newer M's have very even frame gaps, btw. Thanks.

It is not normal. As to whether or not a CLA is needed, you might use the shutter as a guide, specially the slow speeds.

Definitely not normal. Whatever their other faults & quirks, my Leica Ms, including the M3, have the most even frame spacing of any of my vintage/mechanical cameras. A good tech will be able to tell you if a full CLA is necessary (might be more economical to have it done @ the same time that they fix the spacing issue, anyway).

Furcafe,

I have to agree with you, my other M's frame spacing is mind boggling. No matter how you load it, the frame gaps are very even and gaps always line up in between the neg perforation. Amazing! Guess the m3 is time for a cla.
