Universal turret finder-Leitz copy

I only paid $15 but it could very well end up being a paperweight.
Supposedly it works and is useable but is glass is slightly foggy .
Can these things be cleaned up? Or is it a real project?

I`ve read multiple references to Leitz turret finders but that actually isn`t important to me.
I was more interested in whether foggy finders can be cleaned up easily.

The pictures are of a copy of the VIOOH or IMARECT, which is not a turret finder. The finder in my avatar is of the turret kind. To answer your question: yes, your finder can be opened up and cleaned. You might like to look at http://www.cameraquest.com/leicafin.htm.

To clean it, I would use the same procedures as I use for lenses:

1.) rub in circular motions a Q-tip dipped in Acteone, then dry with other end.

2) repeat 1.) with a new Q-tip.

3.) rub in circular motions a Q-tip dipped in a solution of a liter of distilled water and a couple of drops of liquid dishwashing detergent, then dry with other end.

4.) repeat 3.) with a new Q-tip.

I bought a turret finder recently and found that three of the views were very blurred. "Huh", I thought. "Trust me to get a dud." It was usable but not very nice. I tried cleaning the views but nothing seemed to do it.

But one day, I tightened up the screw in the middle just as part of a general fixing and found that the blur suddenly disappeared. I guess that's one possible solution to your problem.
