The Rolleicord arrived yesterday. It is, as near as I can tell a Type 1V with a Schneider Zenar f-3.5 75mm taking lens. Speeds B to 1/500th. The locatiion on the face of the camera where a pc connector would go has an aluminum plug in it and there is only a large older style two pin plug on the left side of the camera body for flash .At this point I don't know if it is X or M or both or neither. I will have to jury rig a cable to test it with a strobe.

The seller listed it as 100% functional and three out of 5 stars in appearance. I would almost agree. On the left side of the body one of the screws that hold on the neck strap and the camera back on is broken off with a stub still in the camera body. I have to be very careful at present opening the back or it will come off. I will drill out the broken screw and tap it for 4/40 sometime soon ( I don't care about keeping it all metric. I don't want to have to go out and buy a special and tiny metric drill bit and tap for just one job). At first glance the taking lens looks perfect. However if you open the back and put it on "B" and look and the lens with a loupe you can see tiny spots all over the inner lens surface that is either the start of separation or fungus. Whatever is is cannot be seen with the naked eye but it is there none the less.

The shutter seems to be right on across the board. I shot a roll of Ektachrome asa 100 today and put it in for processing.

If I had paid more than $42.00 for it I might be upset right now. But I didn't so its okay. The "stuff" on the lens is so small I doubt that I will see much evidence of it in normal use. And it is, aside from what I have mentioned a very well built 50 year old camera. I am also 50 something and I am in about the same state (minus the fungus, that is) :D

Sounds like a good camera, especially for the price. If the spots on the glass are so small you need a loupe to see them, they won't effect the images.

$42 sounds like a great deal for what you got. I've really enjoyed my Rolleicord III, also with the excellent Xenar. I'll be a little sacrilegious (considering it's *Rangefinder* forum) and say that I especially appreciate composing with the large screen and knowing that at least horizontally, the edge of the screen will be the actual edge in the shot.

Does the IV have the EV settings on the lens rather than the standard f-stop and shutter speed markings?

I don't think that anything on the lens which can't be seen without magnification will affect picture quality in the least.

No. It has standard shutter and f-stop markings.
