Uploading images to RFF

I want to post some images, but see that there is a limit of 200kb per image. This gives me an image of about 6cm x 9cm at 100% on my screen set at 1680 x1050. Any larger than 100% and the image pixelates. Any tips as to what I can expect to see on screen and what are the best settings?

As you can tell, I am not experienced at this!

The process is somewhat restrictive.

However...

If you use something like Flickr, upload your picture there, then in 'share', 'grab the HTML/BBCode' and simply paste it into your post.

I've found it much easier this way

I find re-sizing to between 700-800 pixel on the long side of the image generally results in an image/file that meets the forum's restrictions. Also to save a bit of extra space I generally strip all the metadata, aside from copyright info.
