I know a photographer who went to a place & got busted for tresspassing by the cops. Had to go to court & all so be prepared just in case. It is fun, I've been a small bit!

I almost stopped at the Buckhorn Baths in Apache Junction because it looked abandoned - it was quite the tourist attraction back in the 30s. When I got there though I saw that it was still in operation and open. Just nobody (at all) was there save for a single clerk.

I used to do it about 6 years ago (I was 14). I lived in the historical center of the city, the Barrio Antiguo, where most of the houses dated back to the Victorian era. There are several urban legends about some houses in the area, and we definitely did see some very creepy stuff. I haven't done it in several years. A few months ago I met a guy who sells his photos downtown in the same area, at an antiques market that sets up on Sundays. He knows a few interesting abandoned places, so I might check them out sometime.

Hi.
Here in Czech Republic, we've got a lot a lot of abandoned factories. It's a heritage left by the communist regime -- transfer of the industry from planned economy to pure capitalism had its casualties.
As a result there's lot of interesting places to see and photograph 🙂

I really want to get into this, if anybody in London wants to meet up for a day or few of trying this I'd be up for it.

Abandonned Pool -- Fort Ord, CA by kzamani, on Flickr

There's an Army base near my house that has a few odds an ends: An abandonned swimming pool, church and apparently a bowling alley. The pool is easy enough to find and rather photogenic.

As an aside, be really careful where you go and what you breathe -- on this particular occasion, there were rat fecal droppings all over the place and one of my cohorts became rather ill for a week or so.

Larky, Google 'Urbex London' and similar things. You won't have a problem finding a group. As kzphoto says, be very careful of your surrounding and the air you are breathing.

It's great fun, and as long as you keep away from MoD and Railway sites, you can only really be asked to leave (I am leaving out evil security guards & their dogs).

great pics, everyone. as mentioned several times, stay safe. the bio and physical hazards are nothing to be taken casually.

Agree completely. As someone who is out exploring most weekends, some of the nasty stuff you find at these places can be pretty bad - worth being as careful as you can & no shot is worth your life..

went on a dry run this morning -- next time will be with wire cutters, rubber mallet, towel, gloves, knife, and someone to keep watch =-== some great stuff

Great idea. Dress like a project manager with a camera and you can walk right into the craziest places. Dress in black, use a lookout, and carring cutters moves you from simple trespass to B+E, felony trespass, and possession of burglary tools.
