Canonet QL19 + M6 Chrome
I spent most of my money on pictures and I own an M6 with a 50/cron which covers most of my needs but I would like to invest on gear :
- better scanning glasses
- 35mm cron
- GF1, M8 or a new DSLR (I currently own an EOS20d

I have cameras which I will never use , plus a few which I love taking out ... including my ultimate magic box - Leica M 8 . I would now love a pocket digi-box too !

For me it is about the pictures, but I can't deny I think often about how much I want a Leica. I have 3 Bessas and 2 TLRs and I use them all. But I keep looking at Leicas for a few reasons. I want a camera I think will last my lifetime, and I want to experience the legend I've heard so much about.

Once you get your hands on a Leica you'll wonder why you kept the Bessa's.

One body, a few lenses, and the rest of my money goes into travelling.
So i guess i'm not the gear kinda guy.

Leicas are not unusually reliable, no machine will last a lifetime, without either light use, or service.
However nothing is like using a Leica. My question is why do you have so many bodies that you use? Sounds more like a collection?
Just wondering, since you could easily own a Leica for what you have spent on Bessas...
I hear you! It's like Chris Crawford said though, I often have one with colour and one with black and white. Sometimes I can't finish a roll before I need to shoot a different roll for what I want to do.
But it has definitely occurred to me that for the price of 3 Bessas and 3 CV lenses I could've bought a nice Leica and a 50 f1.4. Oh well!

Right now I think I'd benefit from some better gear but once I have a more complete setup, I'll stick with it for a long time.

Many speak of improving their photography, becoming better. I often dwell on that myself. But I think taking pictures all the time, thinking about shots, imagining, even obsessing, is ultimately more important than 'wanting' to improve. It's the drive, the passion, the inexplicable need. I don't think have it. So I'm left with the conscious decision of bettering myself and spending hours checking out gear and planning what combination of cameras and lenses I need. The latter is always enjoyable, the former sometimes fraught with anxiety.

No anxiety here. I see no contradiction between being a good photographer and buying equipment I want. I'm already good, and I stay that way by constant practice. Once you get to where you're being exhibited, published, selling your work regularly, I see nothing wrong with playing with gear. I know some guys here own 500 50mm lenses and always worry which to use. Yeah, thats silly, but it can be fun. I buy gear more to expand what I can do rather than to get 500 examples of a lens type I already own. I'd like a 28mm lens for my Leica. I know i will use it and get good work from it, as I own a 28mm for my Oympus SLR system and I use it frequently. Would be nice to have for the Leica so I can use the RF system when I know I'll need a wideangle wider than the 35 I have for Leica.

perhaps you shoot more subject matter than your kids - or weeds in the back yard!I know some guys here own 500 50mm lenses and always worry which to use. Yeah, thats silly, but it can be fun. I buy gear more to expand what I can do rather than to get 500 examples of a lens type I already own. .
