Simple..."Treat" it like a camera...cameras were made to take photographs...Now grab a roll of your favorite film and start shooting...
Or if you want it to be a trophy to sit on a shelf then gut it and sell the working parts to someone looking to use them...You'll still have your perfect trophy camera body to look at and it won't matter if it doesn't work because you didn't want to use it and wear it out...

Sorry for the small rant but I'm tired of people that are afraid to use cameras because they don't see them as cameras (working tools) but just as investments...
Do with it as you want but it was made to photograph not sit on a shelf...

Put it in a humidity/temperature controlled closet, and fire all the speeds with gloves once a month, then in 2145, sell this rare find to the grandson of the long haired guy at Arsenal.

Just kidding. Personally, I try not to trash equipement, although I accepts small scars with love. The most important is to get good pictures, even if conditions are a bit rough.
A case is always a good solution for keeping relatively good care of equipement.

Brassing a black paint body is no big deal. Any Sunday shooter can do that. Carrying a well brassed chrome Leica? Now that's making a statement. So are things like using worn black lenses on chrome bodies, chrome lenses on black bodies, a few chips of vulcanite missing around the strap lugs, and rounded edges on the strap lug holes. A REAL photographer would never show his/her face in public with a lens shade that was still round or didn't show the aluminum brightly through the black finish on the front rim.
