used M8 with serial # 310xxxx

Just after some advice please. I am looking at buying a used M8 that starts with the serial number 310xxxx. Were these 310's included in the first batch of M8's that apparantly had some issues? Looking through past threads there seem to be mixed opinions on this issue. The seller claims he bought it new and has used it for barely 1,000 shots. Thank you

The 310xxxx were the first and it appears the ones to have most of the problems. Just like any camera, once the problem is corrected, they work great, like the Leica R4, as an example.
As for the specific camera in question, that's a toughie. May not have been used enough to develop any problems, or it could be trouble free for the rest of it's life. Problem now, it is most likely long out of warranty.

I'm not sure you can tell much from just those first 3 digits. Data on summilux.net seems to suggest you need to know at least a 4th digit to establish year of manufacture. Most recent models seem to be in series 333xxxx.
I just bought a 3105xxx (ex-demo) model because it has 2 years Passport, which seems more relevant to me than date of manufacture. YMMV!

My M8 is from the first batch and the serial number starts with 310. It has been sent back to Solms and it is now working fine.

I have a 310 and the sensor has problems. I just sent it to Leica for service.

I have a 311xxxx. The focus was off really bad. And I barely used the thing for over a year until I sent it to Leica for the upgrade and since it has been my constant companion. But my 311xxxx also has the standard sensor issues. Occasional lines in high ISO images. And that huge cut frame when the lightsource is half in the frame. It all happens so rarely I barely mind. I'd say maybe 4 times in the 3 years I've owned it.
