Hi all,
I've been looking around at buying either a ZM or Leica M recently (probably in a few months time) and was wondering about used ZMs?
I've noticed that I hardly ever see used ZM's for sale but I was wondering if anyone knows about how much a used ZM goes for over a brand new one?
Just looking at the body itself rather than a 'kit'.
Thanks guys!

There is always a few on KEH. Currently they have at least two:
LN for $1,035.00, LN- for $959.00
Roland.

Does the LN and -LN stand for "like new"?
Thanks for the heads up on KEH. I had totally forgotten about them. hah.
I kept looking on ebay only to find two "BIN" auctions for new ZMs.

Yes, LN = Like New for them. They are under Leica M bodies.
They have nice Leicas and Bessas on the same page
Good luck,
Roland.

you can likely find an m4-2 or m4-p for less than the zi. even a user m6. i really don't understand the pricing on the zi, but i guess that's a dead horse.

I want a rangefinder with aperature priority.
That means my only options right now are the ZI ZM or the M7... and we all know the M7 used sells for well over the amount of a used or new ZM i'm pretty sure.
The main thing that sells me on the ZM from what i hear is the VF.
Oh and that little thing called cash. hah. M7's are too expensive for me i think.
We'll see though.

There is another option which I converged to in the end: CLE.

Look at Bessa, R2A, R3A also if price is an issue.

At KEH LN means with all the paperwork & etc, LN- means without the extra stuff I believe.

You can't go wrong with LN or LN- at KEH. At least cosmetically anyway.

You will supremely love the ZI. Mine was a demo at Popflash for $1050. SHWEET!jbf said:I want a rangefinder with aperature priority.

i have bought many things from keh and popflash; from both you will get fair to even good deals. but tony rose at popflash has keh nailed in two areas: shipping and prompt customer service. i bought my ZI from popflash because of his shipping; it will cost you less if you live in canada or even nothing if you are in the usa. popflash's service is what really nailed it for me, though: consider what dealing with keh and zeiss will be like if you have any difficulties after the 15 day peroid....then consider what dealing with tony would be like. for a couple hundred more i chose a new ZI and tony's service. ask others here, too, they will tell you the same. having him behind your purchase is worth it.

nobody special
I just bought an Exc+ body from KEH via E-Bay for $849. No one else bid on it.
I've bought plenty of lenses and bodies from KEH before so I have no concern about their ratings or service.
Immediately after winning the bid on E-Bay, I called KEH up and also bought the 35mm Biogon they had. Everything should arrive tomorrow.

not to be too picky...but the body is called the zi or zeiss ikon.
the lenses are commonly identified as zm.

For all the complaining about the quality issues with the ZI it seems interesting that so few come up for sale used. Maybe so few sold in the first place?
Joe - how did you end up with two? (And sorry about your dog

the first one was a gift from rff members, along with the 35/2 lens and a luigi half case.
the black i bought to share with my other lenses.
but i decided that i'd sell it and buy the r4m along with some more cv lenses. it was a good decision, for me.
this is a hobby for me so having too much gear makes me uncomfortable.
right now i have exactly what i need/want.
thanks for your words about my dog, i miss her.

Hmm...
Good point about tony at popflash. I'll definately keep that in mind as i get closer to buying a camera.

Well, I just bought the 50/f2 from popflash and they indicated that there's a bit of a shortage of the ZI bodies at the moment, but more coming shortly. Probably just as well because I can only buy so much at a time.foto_fool said:For all the complaining about the quality issues with the ZI it seems interesting that so few come up for sale used.
