Has anyone had this button 'fail' on them?
I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on my R-D1 to the R-D1s level. This required reset pressing both the M and User Assigned buttons. I can't get a response when I do this.
Fiddling around a bit further. It seems although I can assign a function to the User Assigned buttons in the menu, the button itself does not seem to actuate the function.
Am I missing a trick here or is the button just plain not working?

Any luck? I don't remember what I did when I installed the S firmware but it seemed quick and painless. Pushing M and User buttons? I don't remember...
My only suggestion would be to reinstall firmware upgrade, using a fully charged battery.
