never thought of trying this, hmm might have to stop by the camera store one of these day and try their TCL with my GR.

Before-the-lens angle converters are afocal and will (sort of) work with any lens, provided that the pupil diameter is roughly the same (if the film/sensor format is bigger or the angle wider, you will have to stop down proportionally), and the attachment can be placed at about the same distance from the nodal point.
YMMV, as converters tend to be chosen so that they do not accentuate the flaws of the original lens (if that has pincushion distortion, you'd pair it with a barrel distorting converter) - that may, for obvious reasons, backfire on another lens...

Thanks for the update Rondo. I really wanted to attempt this as well but couldn't justify the cost. Have you tried switching on the 35mm or 47mm crop modes to see if the vignetting was bearable?

still waiting to get my 49-49mm adapter from ebay, 2 months and still hasnt arrived. contacted the seller and they asked me to wait until the end of the week, if still nothing, they will send me a replacement

No, I haven't. While in shop, I really thought that this was completely useless, but now that I am taking my time to review, maybe not so...I may revisit them at one point. As I said in my post at dpreview, this would require physical alteration of the lens and (or) the GH-3 ricoh tube...I doubt cropping along would work. Once altered, you may get a usable crop. The 35 mm crop would give a 50 mm equiv field of view.

Taemo, I assume you think this is completely useless then? Maybe so....But I still think it may be worth another try. Either way, no point in trying with a macro coupling ring, in my opinion. The GH-3 has to come out too. The only way I could get the converter lens next to GR was by removing the GH-3 off the camera. This was a very quick and dirty hand held shot.

I finally received my 49-49 filter last week.
tested it on the GR w/ GH3 and TCL and lots of vignetting, even cropped to 35mm or 50mm, basically 50% of the screen is black.
i'll post the results later this week when I have time.
