Using my G2 again

After a two year layup due to a Leica M6 ttl and Olympus E1, I've started using my G2 again. I feel I have a new camera. The time away from it makes me appreciate it.

I used the G2 as my only camera for two years until it developed a fault (the shutter would fire on it's own). Being out of warranty the repair cost almost £180. I ran one film through it then packed it away. I had just bought the Leica

The repair included a new main circuit board which I think I might have damaged by using my 20 year old Metz CL1 flash with the high trigger voltage.

The G2 is fast to use and the lense are sharp, the viewfinder is the only thing that is hard to get used to.

I was thinking of selling my G2 because I wasn't using it. I'm glad I didn't.

I was thining of selling mine too Robert as I wasn't using mine and I've decided I will. Bought my G2 only 6 months ago and have only run 4 films through. Works fine, as do the lenses, 28, 45, & 90 plus the TLA 140 flash but it's stood doing nothing so it's going. In fact I've just sold the 28 to an RFF member who bought my G1 a while back.

But glad to see you've re-found enjoyment with yours.

I used G2 for a month before Yes or No decision to own, but finaly refused to get it with 21 mm. You can see some 21 mm shots with G2 in my Gallery. It was impossible deal for me to get the G2 with 28 mm, because the owner will stay with the second body G1, which cann't mount the 21...Bad, but I liked the G2.

I am thinking of getting a 21mm but don't know which acmera to get it for. Choices G2, M6 or the 11-22mm zoom for my 4/3 E1.

G2 with 21 mm and the finder are amazing pair, but I like true VF. Moreover, G2 is overengineered camera. If I want autofocus I go to SLR arena

I think the G2 is amazing - quality of workmanship, price, and the sharp lenses. I used to shot SLR in both digital and film but I seemed to enjoy the G2 the most. As one ages, autofocus is a must to get sharp pictures without having to take off your glasses. I am definitely be keeping mine for a while.
