Beginning on May 26 2012, the USPS placed a ban on shipments of Lithium Ion batteries for ANY electronics internationally out of the US.

I know because I just made the deadline shipping a Fuji S5Pro on the 15th of may to an eBay buyer in Federation of Russia.

The ban comes about as the overseas carrier used by USPS will no longer ship LI batteries because of fires (spontaneous) in such shipments.

All electronics are included. The USPS may come up with a workaround on electronics that have LI batteries properly installed, but no loose or separate shipments.

A hurt on eBay and private sellers surely!

In my experience the alternatives, FEDEX and UPS are 3-4 times more expensive on shipping internationally.

USPS hasn't been allowing LI batteries in for even longer. When I was shipping an M6 down the girl at the post office was trying to tell me I couldn't ship it with the battery in. It blew her mind that it wasn't lithium ion. She still tried to tell me I would have to take the battery out. She said it was a USPS rule, not Canada Post.
