I heard that wet mounting improves pic quality significantly when scanned. Anyway to do this with Epson V700 scanner? Is it worth the trouble?

I scan wet negatives a lot, there are a few difficulties involved though. With cotton gloves, you cannot touch them like you usually could. Also, it's difficult to have them dry properly once cut. You will have a hard time hanging them.

The advantage on the v700 is they're perfectly flat and scan really well because of that.

I was doing a little web surfing and saw that there is a V750 that comes with a liquid mount (I think that's what they call it).

The whole idea sounds messy to me. I've even heard of putting the film in oil. Now, that has got to be messy! I can imagine the cleanup. I don't guess one can scan too many negatives a day that way!

The effectiveness varies from film example to film example. Some films seem to show quite a bit of gain in sharpness and/or microcontrast while others show hardly any gain. It is one of those things you have to test for yourself and it is hard to make a blanket statement that applies to every film. Fluid mounting is a good tool to have in the photo scanning toolkit though because there are times it will really be beneficial.
