I bought a Canon IVSB along with a 50mm f1.8 and a 85mm f1.9 in pristine cosmetic condition and had Youxin Ye look at it yesterday and he said it needs a shutter. I bought the kit with the intention of reselling it for a profit. The 50mm has oil on the blades but the 85 is clean. Both lenses glass looks great. The shutter replacement cost is $210 and don't think it's worth fixing if I am only going to get that when I sell it, but if it will be worth $400 that's another story. I have done some checking and it appears this kit is of average appeal to users or collectors.
Any insight will be appreciated.

A camera with a bad shutter is useless and detracts from its resale value. How much? That's always the question. It depends on the camera and how desirable that camera is.

I don't know the Canon models, so I'll let others tell you about the demand for this model.

This is always the risk of buying cameras to flip. Sometimes, you profit. Sometimes, you eat it. Been down that road before.

The IVSb is a great camera but with a damaged shutter, you’re not going to get much for it. The body does has some value as a “parts” camera, so maybe sell it as that. The lenses though, have value, so you can sell those separately. Both have a good reputation and should move relatively quickly.

I will make my money back and then some just on the lenses. I only paid $125 for the kit.

The IVsb may cost about $300 when in very good condition. It is similar to the Leica IIIc. Some prefer it.
