VC 50 nokton

Its a great lens. See Sean Reid's review of this lens on www.luminous-landscape.com. I've been running tests of this lens against the 50 'cron (latest), the 50 hexanon and the tri-elmar at 50. There really isn't much to choose between them. The three 50s are better (IMHO) than the 50 on the tri-elmar, but you might expect that. I will be selling my Nokton and 'cron, because I don't "need" a bag full of 50s, I prefer the size of the hexanon and need some different focal lengths. It has been a difficult choice for me, especially as the Nokton is almost a stop faster than the other two. Damn :bang: I might be talking myself into keeping the Nokton 😕 This lens will not disappoint.

Attached image is the Nokton at 1.5 shot using the RD-1 as part of my testing.

It's an ok lens and uses standard 52 mm filters. But large filter size compared to my Summicron, which is why I sold it. Build quality ok for the price, but the Cron is so much better.

I had one a long time ago. Excellent optics. Build quality not so - the black paint soon started flaking, and the front developed a slight wobble. I understand the paint on the silver version is better, but I wanted a black lens. Also a bit too big for my taste.

It's an ok lens

I enjoy mine very much. I have found my silver version to be built very well, though some would say it doesn't 'feel' as solid as 'cron or such. However, I find it acceptable for my purposes. It is probably the favorite lens in my camera bag.
