Vented shade for hasselblad SWC

So I bought this vented shade for my old Hassy. It should arrive in 2-3 weeks from China.

Does anyone else have one?

Looks like it's for screw thread for "C" lenses and not the later model bayonet 60s. If that's so, there will be a lot of ticked (advertised) 903/905 buyers...

Not for 903/905 SWC cameras. It's for the C 38 (Biogon 38 on SWC or SWC/M) or Distagon 50 threaded lenses with drop in Hasselblad Series 63 filters.

Terrible photos on that ebay auction. Hard to see anything.

I have both sizes of the Hasselblad hoods now, and a good aftermarket hood for the 38mm (courtesy of seller Heavystar). This one is attractively priced and if it fits properly, and doesn't vignette on the Biogon 38, it should be a good alternative.

Of course, I can't see what good the venting does other than to make it look cool. The oblique angle that the lens presents when you're looking through the finder isn't helped much if any by the venting.

So my vented hood came a week ago, in pretty good time from China.

I believe if nothing else it will substantially reduce the amount of wind resistance.

There is a ridge around the inside of the hood positioned in front of the lens. There are no threads but something could be captured, so perhaps.

I have no experience with "series filters" please enlighten me. I assume they are not threaded.

The hood is poorly angled so the venting is compromised a little bit I'm afraid. See my pic.

The hood diameter is 3/8 inch larger than the lens, so we don't have that much advantage.

I would like to see that thing with the proper angle on the shade part so the venting is useful, a deeper shade and perhaps the whole thing just a little larger.

In other words, it's cute, it looks cool but could be designed a lot better.

Hasselblad Series 63 filters are essentially a Series VIII drop in filter captured by that ridge in the hood or by a simple retaining ring. They're 63mm outside diameter with no threads. The Hassy ones differ from generic Series VIII filters in that the filter glass is offset forward by a mm so as not to contact the front of the Biogon 38 or Distagon 50 mm lenses.

Some of the aftermarket hoods have the retaining ridge but are not made precisely enough to actually fit the filters. I have one like that, but the vendor replaced it with a properly made hood.
