Veriwide 100 or Lomo LCA-120 anyone?

Interestingly his example looks beat up/well used. That I’d think would effect performance. It seems that many of these cameras were ridden hard and put away wet!

Roberts Camera had one for $800 last month that i was eyeing. Patches of heavy rust front, back, and inside. They said it worked and I believe them! No finder and someone bought it! If the outside looks like that, what about the insides?

Oh Well. Will keep looking. I want one working with no rust or mould.

The LC-A 120 seems to have film transport issues. It seems that it feeds some film correctly, while others have wind on issues resulting in fewer frames per roll. The one I used (brand new) had focus issues, basically it would only have subjects in focus at the infinity mark.
It's a cool camera, I just feel that being priced where it is , well, I cannot justify it because "I" don't feel the value.
This is interesting as I do feel the value in the Brooks Plaubel Veriwide, which is much much more expensive. Because it works so smoothly and beautifully, as well as giving stunning results.

Perhaps I would have felt differently if the Lomo I used worked correctly. Because there really is nothing like it available.

What I wish is, if only some Japanese manufacturer came up with something like LC-A 120 back in the '80s. Make it the way they made the scale focus point & shoots on which the original LC-A was based on. Make it just like the Cosina CX-2...

But who would buy such a camera back then? They would still demand more of the "quality", which could drive the the price beyond the professional Fuji GS645W range. The LC-A 120's idea is to liberally shoot the rather large and square negative. Maybe that's really a modern thing.

The second one I tried seemed to be able to focus correctly. As for the film transport, it seems that the more use mine gets the better it becomes. Lately I am getting the full 12 images on a roll of 120 and it has become rare to have overlapping images.

Since it is highly unlikely that anyone will decide to build a better one I just enjoy what I have and take the good with the not so good.

It is certainly a very fun camera to use.

Is it affected by the brand of film used?
