View from our houses

How about some shots from the windows of our houses? I know you all have them, so why not post them? :)

Here's my shot. Night shot.

Here's mine...well, sort of a view OF the house, but you get the idea...

Best Regards,

By the way, the photo was an experiment - lens is a Vivitar 35mm f1.9 shot wide-open - focal point is the plant next to my lovely wife. I wanted to see if there is enough depth-of-focus to do differential focusing shooting a 35mm lens wide-open. There is. Film is Kodak 400 B&W, camera is my new Bessaflex.

Best Regards,

You have to make it a couple portrait. Hop in your chair, Ma and Pa on the Patio.

this is exactly across from my place. it looks like a mirror image, i live in a condo complex. it's very ugly but the units themselves are great.
oh yeah, this was during a summer hail storm.

I can see these trees from my bedroom window. Must confess, though, this photo was not taken from there... In fact, I have no photos of the view from my window.

Odd urban sky, no filters, we were all expecting the end of the world that evening ! :p

Reminds me a bit of the sunsets in Guatemala (where I'm from)... only without the volcanoes in the horizon.

Nice colors and framing, Oscar. That's a nice urbanscape shot!

This isn't exactly a view through our window, but from our front door and across our little deck. I was grabbing a shot of that kid "terrorizing" the neighborhood on his incredibly noisy motorized scooter, out in the public thoroughfare, just having come down the alley. Leica M2, 35 'cron.

Coincidentally, partly obscured here by the nearest power pole, there's a white city police car at the coffee place drive-through window across the intersection getting a latte. How could he miss noticing the kid?

The big white house just beyond the kid is the Chamber of Commerce. At its corner of the intersection is where I shot the flattened street sign and the semi-truck tracks over the corner, I think uploaded to the gallery.

The (yellow) house to the right of the coffee place is the Bed & Breakfast that had the colorful balloons on its porch, picture also in the gallery.

At the far left is a bit of my log cabin; recently uploaded a shot of it in a snow flurry. At the far right is an old white duplex that will be torn down to make room for the county jail expansion.

Getting a tour of my immediate neighborhood!

More tour, this one shot from our deck (near a window!) the view about 90 degrees rightward from the above. We have a crew trimming the Siberian Crab tree at the right.

The grey bulding across the other street is the closed motel where I shot the red door, twice. :) I think it will become a parking lot for the new jail.

There sure are a lot of police cars around, huh? About 120 police canine units from all over Washington State converged here for a day or two of training. Lots of excited doggies going Arf Arf. They used that dark green building for a few mock raids, and left paint-ball splatters inside.

I'm documenting this jail project from a good viewpoint right across the street. The corner house was moved last year. That green building is now being prepared to move. I've also shot pics at another closed motel at the far end of the block which also has red doors.

Hi Doug,
Your shot with all the police cars in the street reminds me of my area lately. This week I came home for lunch only to find 8 cruisers barricading the street in front of my house. Seems someone had an attack of road rage and pulled a shotgun on the other driver. What a world.

RML, just wanted to say this was an interesting thread idea. I've enjoyed looking at everyone's shots and hope more members will post.

Here's a couple from this morning - on the way out the door to go to Raleigh and hit the flea market...

This is the neighbor across the street - the actual literal view from our house.

Our house, in the middle of our street...

By the way - when you see me posting online on the weekend and at night - I'm in the little dormer window on the second floor that you see here. Pretty cool, huh? My 'Command Center', so to speak.

We stopped by Waffle House on our way to Raleigh for some lovely brekkie. There is a small lake next to the Waffle House - so I took this while waiting for my grits.

Dang! You people live in nice suburban areas and some nice freestanding houses! Is there no-one here on RFF who lives in a proper city? :)

Well, at least have something to brag too. :)
Here's a view from anearby hill on our piece of land in the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
See the unnaturally green patch just left-of-center? That's 70x35 meters of land. Only one side of the fence was erected in this shot. A few days later the entire fence was up.
Right now family of my wife is living on our land. They needed a place to stay and we haven't been able to go back to Mongolia for the past two years because my wife is studying in India.

Oh, there's no electricity, no sewer, no running water. :)

In a couple of years we'll have built a home sweet home....
