Vintage NYC Kodachrome ...

All are very nostalgic. Some are obviously before my time, but some definitely bring back memories.

They say they are from the 1940s to the 1960s, but the Kodak logo in one and the "XXX" on the pr0n placard in front of the theater leads me to believe that some of them are 1970s.

"8 Vaudeville Acts" at the (RKO) Palace? The vehicles are obviously 1950s, but I never heard of Vaudeville lasting into the 50s!

Plain And Fancy at the Winter Garden. Definitely before my time. 🙂

I do remember seeing Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines, however. 🙂

I love this stuff. Give me old Kodachromes any time. I should be against the law (a felony+ a hefty fine) to destroy old Kodachromes. Where is the government when they are really needed?

Yes. It's always nice to see old Color Photography. It has the color not expected in a B&W era. I agree that destroying this kind of photographs is the same as destroying an historic document.

It would be interesting to be able to travel +50 years in the future (I eventually will) and see the Kodachromes I shot and compare them to the world as it should be then.
(Well, I'm the youngest generation able to shoot KR and should I live another 60 years, being 16 today).
A bit off topic... It would be interesting to see how will today's digital photos keep until then.

I have to recognise that one of my reasons to shoot film is the way it keeps. I just found it really great to find my dad's slides from 30 so years ago and those are still fine. I like to "play" the role of documentarian.

Prest 400, you say how film keeps. I haven't been the most meticulous person with my negatives and slides, but they are fine from over 60 years. My recommendation to you is shoot a lot. I tried to not get cars in my photos but now when I see a street scene from my old stuff I wish I had shot more, and more (even with cars). These NYC slides are so great not because of composition but because they show life as it was (and the clothes, cars and signs). I'm sure that they look like the end of the Roman Empire to you but I remember those days well.
