Is it worth making the pilgrimage? Is there anything to see besides a retail store? Ideally I would love to take a tour of the factory but not sure if that is the right place for that.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Eric

It's a very pretty town, so definitely worth the visit in my opinion (but I'm sure it looks like a lot of small towns in Germany). If you decide to take a tour, call ahead to make sure you'll be there when they'll have an English-speaking tour (unless you understand German).

And if you go, don't forget to pay homage to Mr. Barnack.....

The new Leica Park in Wetzlar has it's official opening on May 24th. That could be an interesting place to visit. I don't know how well they are set up for visitors right now though.
Wetzlar is interesting, small german town, good for a walk around and a beer or two.
Also go to the Eisen Markt - Oscar Barnack to pictures of the old buildings and the square with the Ur-Leica.
