Vitessa photos

Gene,

Would you stop with the beautiful Voigtlander camera porn photos and then following crisp photographs. Your freakin killing me. 😀

What's the purpose of the large silver cylinder tower that pokes out above the viewfinder?

EDIT: Ooops, you answered that question already in your weblink.

The long button on top advances the film and re-sets the shutter all with one push

The Vitessa gets my vote as the single coolest rangefinder ever. It's just beautifully made, and its design is remarkably original. The lenses are first rate also (though the Ultron 50/2 is the star). The drawback is that I don't think too many repairmen know how to fix them.

I am also attracted to abandoned factory buildings as photographic subjects, so I enjoyed these. They give a good indication of what that lens can do.

You are a lucky man. That is one of the cameras that really interests me because of it's unique features and fine lenses. I had a chance to buy one and passed which in hindsight was dumb. I hope you get much pleasure from using it.

The Vitessas are beautiful cameras to use, the colour skopar lenses (2.8 or 3.5) are good but the Ultron f 1:2 is outstanding as Gene's shots show.... The plunger action is surprisingly easy to get used to. The Vitessa T (without the folding doors (see my avatar!) is also a good user, especially with the 35mm Skoparex.

These cameras are very well made, to me they represent one of the high points in Voigtlander's long history, they are certainly my favourite Voigtlanders.
