New Vivian Maier biography: Vivian Maier Developed: The Untold Story of the Photographer Nanny

Ann Marks, the author of this book, asked me to tech check the book for her. She found me from some articles I've written about Rolleiflex cameras (she's not familiar with camera stuff).

Anyway, if you're interested in knowing more about Vivian Maier, then check the book out on Amazon, buy it if it appeals to you, and share your thoughts (after you've read it hopefully).

I've been on the wait list for the Kindle version from my library and received notice today that it's available. Looking forward to reading it.

I see you in the acknowledgements, Dan. A very nice credit.

Just finished the book.

Excellent research and an extraordinary woman.

I don't think you are left feeling pity for her (which I kind of did before I read the book), although one definitely would have wished for her to have had an easier life.

The book also cuts through some of the common misconceptions about exploitation of her legacy. I think this book is required reading in order to have an opinion about the discussion of whether it is right or wrong that we can enjoy her amazing photography today without her consent (or dissent).

Although not a photo book per se, it does have many of her photos, several shown for the first time.

I do recommend it.

I checked the book out from the library and read it a couple of months ago. The author deserves credit for sleuthing down some new facts. Certainly more fodder for discussion.
