Hi,

I just brought a Voightlander Vito Automatic R. The focus feature seems to work ok but I am not sure about the rangefinder with electric eye. there is a white round lens on the camera top. When I move the camera around, a bubble moves about inside of the lens, maybe two bubbles. They do not change color. I looked around for a manual but could not find one for this specific model, or on Butkus. Should I expect to see a color change in the top window? I have yet to run film in it, I would like to see that it is working first and understand how the system functions. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I opened it up, found that the meter does work when exposed to light. The viewfinder had come dislodged from the base. I glued it back on and reattached the spring that keeps the cam against the focus arm. Seems as though the focus adjustment sends light across the camera top to illuminate the white dot in red or green. The white dot thing, linkages, springs, and everything else seems in order. Cleaned and reassembled, I can see a very faint green color in full light. When fired in automatic mode, the aperture is full open. When moved in and out of the light, the shutter speed seems constant.

Quality Light Metric in Hollywood should be able to install a new cell. He specializes in selenium celled meters and is the go to guy on Weston and GENERAL meters.
