Just wondering if there will be an m mount version of the 50 apo lanthar. I hear great things about this lens.

ADMIN EDIT

Due to high demand for the new M 50mm f/2 APO,
Voigtlander was not able to supply our full Voigtlander M 50mm APO order.

Our initial January shipment is sold out. We estimate to start shipping about January 27th.

We are accepting orders for the next February 5th shipment CLICK HERE
-- which is filling up fast.
USE OPEN LINK IN NEW TAB
Place your February order before that shipment is sold out as well.

Due to initial short supply,
the 50mm f/2 APO LH-13 hood
is sold only with the lens at this time

This new lens seems very popular.

I'd be interested in Voigtlander porting their E mount lenses over to L mount, too. If there is sufficient market, it will allow Leica SL/SL2/CL/TL users to benefit from these great designs, optimized for L mount. The hope of Voigtlander making L mount lenses is one thing that holds me back from getting into Sony A cameras.

Don't believe they're part of the L-mount consortium.

M-Mount first please!
You can adapt it easily to the other mounts ...

Yes and no. The Leica SL2 sensor is specifically optimized for M-mount lenses, but reportedly doesn't have quite the same performance as on a M body. The Voigtlander E mount lenses are optimized for E mount, and they perform better than the equivalent M mount lenses on a Sony body.

O.k., but I think the M-Mount market is actually still a lot bigger then L-Mount market.
I'll buy the M-Mount version within a second!

Leica Rumors quotes a Japanese source that they're finally coming out with the M version. Bigger news than the 35 Summicron 8-element repro, it will bring the 50 APO to a humanized price. Check out Lloyd Chambers' review; one of the rare non-Zeiss offerings that leave him speechless.

Is $2000 a humanized price? Just guessing here.

edited: it is $999 without a hood.

Wow. I'm shocked. I just assumed a non-SLR version of the APO wouldn't be possible, since not all lens designs can easily be transferred (as I understand it?) from a mirrored body to a mirrorless.

oh man Voigtlander's last couple of lenses have been incredible. I have the Ultron 35 and the C-S 21mm 3.5 and I'm in love with them. It'd be great to round out my Leica system with a 50mm.

E mount is mirrorless. It has a shorter flange focal length than Leica M.

The E Mount is something like $1200. Can’t imagine the M being any more

Looking at the Australian distributer, the E mount versions tend to be $1-200aud more than the M version of the same lens (I'm assuming because E requires electrical contacts while M is purely mechanical).

That would put a VM 50/f2 APO-Lanthar at ~$1295aud. Not bad...
