I am looking at a pre-war Bessa RF Heliar with 6x4.5 mask in exc. condition for £180 ($292). Is this about the right price for such a camera?

You're kidding, right? This is a steal. Grab it!

Not kidding and I just bought it. I've had one duff camera from this guy before, but he has refunded via PayPal without issue.

Here's a photo. Pretty isn't it?

I love mine, although is post-war. Luckily I got it even cheaper than yours, with its original maker's box, etc. One of those "once in a lifetime" occasions... Your price is also fantastic for such a wonderful camera.

(Very) minor flaw was I had to realign the rangefinder on mine, specially vertical alignment was off. That's very typical of this model, I hear. Is yours the same?

That was a lucky find then.

I don't know too much about mine yet, as it won't be with me for a few days - took a chance online with this guy, so it will be interesting to see what I get. As I said, his return policy has been ok so far, so fingers crossed but I do not expect it to be perfect (it's probably around 75 years old). I believe it's pre-war as the focal length is in cms. but I will check the serial number.

I also have a Bessa II that needs horizontal realigning and has slow shutter speeds, so I will send them both for adjustment, if I need to.

Gotta stop buying when I am supposed to be selling!
