If any of you who have a problem with this can easily fix it yourself. I had one that was stickin and not returning to 1 when removing a used film.
Hold the film advance knob and LOOSEN the screw, open the back up and hold the inner part while removing the screw. Be careful there is a tiny round metal plug inside the threaded part.
Flip the film engagement lever to the right.
You can then see two tiny screws under where the wind knob sites, remove them.
The top is now loose but to remove it you need to use something to push the shutter release button down while simultaneously pushing in the small pin that was exposed after you moved the film engagement lever to the right.
Lift the top on the left side and push it to the right. The top now comes off easily.
I LOOSENED the screw holding down the rotating number dial SLIGHTLY and lubricated the gears, then tightened the screw just a LITTLE.
She now works like new. Hope this may help anyone, it’s very very easy.
Only issue is the viewfinder will fall off but it just sits on a pin and can only go on one way.
Cheers,
James.

I am anxious to try and carry out this repair myself, since I think it's why mine simply won't advance film when the double exposure prevention is engaged. But I've tried removing the top and just can't remove it -- doing all the steps described above but just can't get it around that little pin and slide the cover off. Would appreciate any tips.

Hello,
I just used a pin to push in the metal tab, that is the only thing stopping you remove the top once all the screws are removed. It is hidden behind the lever, just move the lever to one side slightly and push it in while removing the top plate. A second pair of hands would help you.
It really is easy to remove. Just remember every move you take for reassembly.

I recently picked up one of these cameras. Took a few minutes but some slight fiddling with the lever from middle to right the counter slowly went backwards to 1 then the red/white start. I ran a roll through it yesterday and without even thinking about it got the 13th frame exposed. Super sharp lens. A really nice addition to my small folder collection. And the best thing is the bellows are light tight.

I might open it up but for now the fiddling has worked again and the counter is ready for another roll.

Well -- if I did have a second pair of hands.... If the cover just lifted straight up, it would be much easier, but having to unhook the cover at the end where the frame counter is, and get it to clear the lever, makes this very difficult. Much harder than the Perkeo I. I'll try again but yes, at least one more hand would be really helpful.

And then I still have to figure out what's wrong once I get the top off!
